Our Story
Founded in 1874, Gamma Phi Beta is one of the oldest women’s sororities in the world. With a mission to build confident women of character, we foster a strong sense of sisterhood, leadership, and service. Our core values—Love, Labor, Learning, and Loyalty—guide everything we do.

Gamma Phi Beta was installed at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa, on November 23, 1968.

Sisterhood is at the core of everything we do. Whether it’s movie nights, spontaneous coffee runs, or supporting one another through life’s ups and downs, Gamma Phi Beta is a place where lifelong friendships grow. We believe in showing up for each other, always.

Gamma Phi Beta empowers women to become confident leaders in every area of life. Our members take on roles within our chapter, across campus, and in the community while building skills that last long after graduation.
